Send mom skyward—free of charge!

The SkyStar Observation Wheel in Golden Gate Park wants to help moms enjoy their special day with free rides on Mother’s Day.

Individuals may reserve and purchase their tickets for Sunday, May 9, and bring mom along for a complimentary ride at one of the famed park’s newest and most popular attractions.

“It’s been a tough year for everyone, especially moms trying to balance stay-at-home mandates, work from home and helping their children with school instruction from home,” SkyStar Wheel Managing Partner Todd Schneider said. “SkyStar wants to acknowledge Bay Area moms with this special thank you ticket offer to ride the Wheel and help celebrate their day.”

The colorful, 15-story, state-of-the-art wheel provides stunning views from the Pacific Ocean to downtown San Francisco. It features 36 enclosed and well-ventilated gondolas that provide for perfect social distancing.

The traveling observation wheel is the largest in America, and was installed in San Francisco last year in observance of Golden Gate Park’s 150th anniversary. It is located at 1 Bowl Drive in the Music Concourse at Bowl Drive, the outdoor plaza near the de Young Museum, the California Academy of Sciences and the Japanese Tea Garden. Operational hours are Monday-Friday from noon-10 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for general admission, and $12 for seniors (65 and over) and children (12 and under). Fifteen percent discounts are available for San Francisco residents with valid identification.
